Chas. Wood & Son Moving realizes that many individuals prefer to pack some or all of their belongings themselves. However, we are not responsible for damage to items packed by anyone other than ourselves. Therefore, here are a few tips to help your ensure your belongings arrive in the same condition as when you packed them:

• All boxes should be packed completely full and secured with tape on the top and bottom. Use sealing tape only. Duct tape and masking tape do not adhere properly to cardboard, and may cause damage to your belongings.
• Do not use boxes smaller than 12"x12"x14". We do provide used moving boxes to our customers for packing. These cartons are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and can be pickup up at our warehouse, or delivered for $10.00.
• Do not use garbage bags to pack as they can break and do not stack well in the truck. Plastic tubs can be used; in fact, they are great for non-breakables.
• Write the contents on the side of the box and the name of the room you wish the box to be placed in at the time of delivery.
• Clearly label boxes that have breakable and/or fragile items.
• Clearly label boxes that contain items such as lampshades or dried flower arrangements.
• Absolutely no flammable, corrosive or explosive items are to be packed. We cannot legally transport these items. This includes propane tanks and cannisters. If unsure, please ask your salesperson.
• All pictures, ceramic lamps and glass table tops or shelving must be packed prior to your move date.
• If you are planning on moving some or all of your belongings into a self-storage facility, you will need to make provisions to have the items physically covered. The blankets the driver uses to wrap your furniture must stay with the truck.
